Palpung Sherabling

Palpung Sherabling Monks perform the very popular Cham Dance at the end of every Lunar Calendar after rigorous practices of the same along with days of meditations. The festival is always witnessed by hundreds of devotees, monks, locals. the following pictures tell the story of the end of all the bad omens in the past year received and the beginning of the new year with all the blessings given to all sentient beings all over the planet.
The Festival includes the participation of many highly recognized lamas, also rinpoches' as tibetans call them. Many of the dances performed in the festival are done after many years of practice, require utmost skills and can not be performed just by anybody as far as i know it. The festival truly showcases, the very colourful, elaborate, rich culture and heritage of Tibet, which has been preserved by many tibetan monasteries such as this one, Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat. Situated in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh. the monastic seat sits amidst the pine forests just seven kilometers above Baijnath, a local township, in Kangra Valley which also boasts the famous Baijnath Temple.
